Richard M. Hamrick III, MD, MBA. FCCP currently has several roles, among them principal of Hamrick & Company, operating advisor for Blue Heron Capital, and board member of Common House, LLC. He formerly was the Division Chief Medical Officer for HCA’s Capital Division comprised of 18 hospitals and associated operational components across Virginia, Indiana, New Hampshire and Kentucky from 2011 through mid 2019. He is a former president of the Richmond Academy of Medicine and the Medical Society of Virginia. He was a founding board member and former chairman of the Medical Society of Virginia Insurance Agency, broker for health and malpractice insurance for over 3,000 physicians and their families. A founding board member of the Virginia Center for Health Innovation he served as treasurer between 20011-2019. He is a former member and finance chair of the Board of Regents of the American College of Chest Physicians. In addition, he served on the Board of Trustees of Westminster Canterbury Richmond, a 1200 resident continuing care retirement community. He has served the Commonwealth of Virginia on several workgroups appointed by the Governor and Secretary of Health and Human Resources. Board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, he practiced in Richmond, VA for over 20 years. A graduate of Randolph-Macon College and the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University, he completed his pulmonary disease fellowship at Georgetown University, as well an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
